An影评, or film review, is an article or commentary that evaluates one or multiple films. It usually includes analysis and commentary on the plot, themes, performances, directorial techniques, etc., of the film. The purpose of a film review is to provide audience evaluations and suggestions to help others make decisions about watching the film.
A观后感, or post-viewing impression, is a summary of the feelings and experiences that viewers have after watching a film. It typically includes descriptions and feelings about the viewing experience, plot development, character development, performance levels, as well as the ideas and themes conveyed by the film. A观后感 focuses more on recording and expressing the viewer’s personal emotions and reflections.
Although both film reviews and post-viewing impressions evaluate and express feelings about a film, they differ in some aspects. Film reviews are more objective and professional, focusing on analyzing and commenting on various aspects of the film. Post-viewing impressions, on the other hand, are more subjective and personal, emphasizing the viewer’s personal viewing experience and feelings. Film reviews are generally written by professional film reviewers or critics, while post-viewing impressions are more often personal reflections from individual viewers.
